Stop parading yourself as Alakufo, Chief Adefisoye warns NURTW chieftain Eji-Ogbe

Stop parading yourself as Alakufo, Chief Adefisoye warns NURTW chieftain Eji-Ogbe

From Taiwo Oluwadare, Ibadan

The Alakufo-designate, Alhaji (Chief) Lamidi Taoreed Ayankojo Adefisoye, has issued a stern warning to Alhaji Olajide Abideen Abimbola, popularly known as Eji-Ogbe, to stop presenting himself as the Alakufo of Akufo in Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Speaking with journalists over the weekend, Chief Adefisoye urged Eji-Ogbe to respect the legal process and await the outcome of a case he (Eji-Ogbe) filed, which is still pending before Oyo State High Court 6 in Ibadan.

Chief Adefisoye and Eji-Ogbe, a prominent member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State, were once close friends. However, their relationship soured following a dispute over the Alakufo stool.

According to Chief Adefisoye, he was officially appointed as the Alakufo in October 2023. He presented a letter titled “RE: Filling of Vacant Stool of Baale Akufo” with reference number CB.141/152/40/92A, issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters. The letter confirmed his appointment, approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, effective 20 October 2023.

Adefisoye emphasized that the Alakufo stool was not vacant in November 2023, when Eji-Ogbe allegedly manipulated his way to the palace of the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, to be installed as Alakufo.

“There is a due process for appointing a part two Oba in Oyo State. It is the state government that handles such appointments. I am the one recognised by the Oyo State government and have the official documentation to prove it,” Adefisoye stated.

He expressed dismay that Eji-Ogbe continues to parade himself as the Alakufo despite the unresolved court case. Adefisoye called on him to respect the law and cease any actions that might further complicate the matter.
