Anambra State residents on Friday went their normal businesses in defiance of the 5-day stay-at-home order declared by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), loyal to Simon Ekpa.

There was no compliance at all to the order as people were seen moving freely without let or hindrance across all parts of the State, including Nnewi, Onitsha, Awka, Ihiala, Ekwulobia.

Schools, markets, banks, street traders and other public institutions, in Nnewi, for instance, were all open for business, while human and vehicular movements were recorded across the State.

Asked why she did not obey the 5-day stay-at-home order beginning from December 9, a petty trader at Nkwo Nnewi Roundabout who did want her name mentioned in the news said she would only obey the order if those giving the order could feed her family three times a day for the five days petty.

It is observed that there has been a leadership tussle between Nnamdi Kanu’s faction of the IPOB, and that of Simon Ekpa said to be operating from Finland which has been on as Kanu remains in detention.

The IPOB group under Kanu’s leadership had earlier countered the 5-day stay-at-home order, through its spokesperson, Mr Emma Powerful in the media asking people of the South East to ignore the order.
