The Southeast Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC) 2026 has received the endorsement of Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, following a courtesy visit by organizers to his palace.
The visit also marked the announcement of a date change for the initiative. The summit, originally scheduled for September 26, has been rescheduled to October 3, 2026 in Enugu State.
Igwe Agubuzu who is a former Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and former Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, pledged his full support for the programme.
He said that young people often prioritize certificates over skill development and stressed that while formal education remains important, it must be complemented by expertise and the ability to solve problems.
The traditional ruler encouraged young people to seek mentorship from experienced aviation professionals arguing that continuous self-development open doors that transcend ethnic boundaries. He said the nature of aviation is such that airlines and aircraft owners prioritize qualification and capability over other considerations.
The SASEYC team has urged young people across Southeast Nigeria and beyond to attend the October 3 summit, learn from experts and take the first steps toward building careers in aviation.
“The summit will serve as a meeting point for young people, aviation professionals, industry veterans and other stakeholders, with the aim of helping participants understand the opportunities available in the sector and prepare themselves to take advantage of them,” organisers stated.
