Armed group suspected to be bandits have abducted an unspecified number of students at Tsangaya, an Islamiyya and Quranic Recitation school at Gidan Bakuso in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The abductors, according to sources within the community, invaded the house where the students were camped at about 1:00a.m on Saturday and whisked away no fewer than 15 of the students.
A resident, Umar Gada, said that one person was shot in the encounter.
His words: “We have contacted the Malam (Teacher) to give us the figure of the missing students. So far, he counted 15 who are missing and we are still searching for more.”
When contacted, the Police Spokesperson in the state, ASP Ahmad Rufai said that the command was yet to get the details of the incident.
“We have contacted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of the Local Government Area. As soon as he (DPO) respond, we will get back to the journalists on the true situation of the incident,” Rufai said.
