From Charity Nwakaudu, Abuja

The Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, a coalition of civil society groups, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obey the court order that declared Edozie Njoku as the national chairman of the APGA political party.

The Director General of the group, Dr Nwambu Gabriel, made the call at a press conference held in Abuja, yesterday.

Dr Nwambu lamented that the flouting of court orders is gradually becoming a trend in Nigeria.

He added that the group would have a roundtable discussion with INEC chairman professor Mahmoud Yakubu on the issues, saying a country where court orders are flouted is doomed.

“The INEC chairman have been dually communicated and he has been served with respect to this judgement,so we intend also to have a roundtable discussion with him so that we know what is happening,” Dr Nwambu stated.

“We are calling on INEC to do the right thing which is that the order of the court should be respected, the sanctity of the judiciary must be upheld at all time.

“A society in which court orders are treated with levity is doomed. It doesn’t matter whom the law favors, therefore, beneficiaries of any court judgement should be protected by the law and supported to enjoy the dividends arising therefrom.

“We call on President Bola Tinubu who is the highest beneficiary of court judgement,as it stands today in this country, that he is duly bound to stop this impunity, imagine what it would have been if the supreme court judgement which upheld his election was flouted,” he added
