Team Nasarawa has recorded its first gold medal at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, following an outstanding performance by Ibrahim Mohammed Sidi in the Golf Stableford event.
Sidi, who had earlier clinched a bronze medal in the Electric game, displayed remarkable skill and composure on Monday to secure the top spot, delivering Team Nasarawa’s first gold medal of the competition.
His latest achievement adds to the growing medal haul of the state as athletes continue to make their mark across different events.
Meanwhile, Team Nasarawa’s hockey and karate contingents have also impressed, with the male hockey team defeating Lagos 2-0 to maintain an unbeaten run in Pool B, while the female team qualified for the semi-finals after a 2-1 victory over Imo State.
In karate, the trio of Chineye Agbo, Magdaline Inji, and Alexander Otuma each won bronze medals in their categories.
With the gold medal, Team Nasarawa now has a total of five medals — one gold and four bronze — at the Games on Day 7.
