Shettima,19 govs attend 10th Ahmadu Bello lecture in Borno

Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors of 19 states in northern part of Nigeria, top political leaders, traditional rulers and scholars are scheduled to attend the 10th
edition of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Annual Lecture in Maidugiri, Borno State capital.

Chairman Joint Organizing Committee and Borno Head of Service, Mallam Fannami disclosed at a press conference in Maiduguri on Thursday. He said the lecture will hold on Saturday.

“The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture is an important event on the annual calendar, dedicated to the memory of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of Northern region and prominent leader in Nigeria’s history,” he disclosed.

Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto was the Premier of defunct Northern region from 1954 until 1966 when the first military coup in the country occurred. Nigeria was then divided into northern region, southeast, southwest and Midwest.

Fannami, the organising committee chairman of the lecture, said the event is organised annually to remember the legacies of selflessness, commitment and loyalty to the welfare of the people exhibited by the late leader while he was the premier at the time. He said the lecture also brings to the younger generation the fact that the Nigerian society can have good leaders.

He said the rotation of the Annual lecture was aimed at fostering unity among northern people and promote the rich culture and tradition of the people of the area.

He said adequate security has been out in place to ensure hitch-free lecture and safety of attendees.

Governor of Gombe State and chairman, Northern Governors Forum, Inuwa Yahaya will chair the event according to the organising committee.
