Sheath your swords, Imo women beg Uzodimma’s detractors

Imo women from Okigwe Local Government Area of the State has appealed to detractors of governor Hope Uzodimma to let bygones be bygones and support the development of the State .

Briefing newsmen on Sunday, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) princess Gloria Akobundu decried the insecurity challenge which she feared if not tackled may affect the forthcoming election.

She therefore appealed to those politicians in the State believed to be masterminds of the challenge to sheath their sword and allow a free and peaceful election next month.

She said ‘We do not want to know who is right or wrong, what we the women in the State is saying is that we do not want the insecurity in the State to continue, we have had enough, all the leaders must join hands together and see how to rebuild Imo .

“Imo is for all us, we can never thrive in the midst of violence, according to the Africa Union agenda 2016 ,what Africa needs is development, same applies to Nigeria, we do not want insecurity anywhere, they should allow the President to concentrate and give us dividends of democracy.

” As mothers, we’re pained by the news of killings everyday, those being killed are our children ,and that was why we have staged the rally on Saturday to tell the whole world that we need peace and not war in Imo .

Recalling a recent incident Akobundu said “We shed tears when they killed another person here, because they know we have a rally that they and they killed just to spite the government they should stop shedding innocent bloods, embrace dialogue”.

Meanwhile, the women has opted to support Uzodimma to complete his second term in office, that way they noted will allow him consolidated on his projects.
