The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Association of Auctioneers (NAA) has been dissolved, and a caretaker committee has been constituted to temporarily run the affairs of the Association.
The NEC was dissolved at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Association, attended by the Board of Trustees and a majority of the state and National Executives, in Abuja.
A nine-member Caretaker and Electoral Committee, led by Hajiya Salamatu Abdullahi, was formed from the six geopolitical zones to run the affairs of the Council pending the emergence of new executives.
Barrister Ben Coco Attah was also appointed Secretary of both the Caretaker, Electoral and Constitution Review Committees. Similarly, a seven-member Constitution Review Committee was constituted to review the constitution, to be approved and adopted at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Speaking at the inauguration of the Caretaker/Electoral and Constitution Review Committee, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, HRM King Alfred Diete-Spiff, said, “We unanimously agreed in the last AGM, held in Osogbo, Osun State, that there would be an Emergency General Meeting in June or July this year to discuss three key issues, notably, the review of the Constitution, the issue of overstayed executives who were elected since 2013, and the issue of unaudited accounts and financial reports of 2021, 2022 and 2023.”
He further stated that while the former National President of the Association, Alhaji Aliyu Kiliya, failed to convene the meeting since June and after two weeks’ notice was given for this meeting, it was disappointing that he failed to attend.
The former General Secretary of the NAA, Isibor Abhulimen, however, proposed a reconciliation to address past grievances and to strengthen the Association through increased membership.
He said: “There is strength in unity and numbers. Those willing to return to the Association should do so with a clear mind of reconciliation.”
Meanwhile, the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Financial Reports were presented by the former Financial Secretary, Hajiya Salamatu Abdullahi, with the support of the former Treasurer, Chief I.K. Nwankwo, and adopted by members present.
