Seven yet to be identified persons have been arrested in Ekiti State for illegal collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from eligible voters in Ikere Ekiti.

Our correspondent learnt that the armed policemen said to be acting on a tip off, stormed the area a few minutes before 1pm and recovered an unspecified number of PVCs from the suspects.

The operation caused confusion as seven other people allegedly collecting the PVCs on behalf of their party were apprehended by the policemen.

Those arrested were said to be cooling their heels in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) where they are stating all they know about the incident.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Caleb Ikechukwu, said the report of the incident was yet to be brought to his office.
