Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has described the loyalty of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “unquestionable.”

In a statement by Goodluck Ibem, President General of COSEYL and Okay Nwaoru, the group’s publicity secretary, the youth group said it was compelled to respond to recent criticisms questioning Senator Kalu’s commitment to the ruling party and the President.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu remains one of the most loyal and dedicated party men in the South East geopolitical zone,” COSEYL said, adding that his commitment to the APC and President Tinubu’s progressive agenda had never been in doubt.

The group noted that Senator Kalu’s performance in office had earned him “massive followership and respect” in Abia North and beyond, insisting that claims to the contrary were unfounded.

According to COSEYL, the people of Abia North and the wider South East appreciate Senator Kalu’s role in promoting the APC’s vision and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.

“We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the huge monthly federal allocations and federal projects released to Abia State, which clearly demonstrate the President’s commitment to the development of the region.”

The coalition said Abians were not ungrateful people and would continue to support leaders who delivered tangible development.

“The overwhelming positive response to APC policies and projects in Abia State is clear evidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda is taking root. Abians will undoubtedly reciprocate by voting massively for President Tinubu in forthcoming elections.”

COSEYL also recalled a 2020 meeting involving Senator Kalu, Senator Victor Umeh and Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti, which it said further underscored Senator Kalu’s dedication to the APC.

According to COSEYL, Dr Otti was quoted at the meeting as saying: “In 2018, it was about 10pm when Senator Orji Uzor Kalu showed up at my house in Lagos. I was not expecting him. He said the reason for his visit was to ask me to join the APC. He told me he would only support me if I contested the 2019 election under the platform of the APC because he wanted to put a stop to what he described as the nonsense going on in the state.”

COSEYL said the statement confirmed that Senator Kalu “works tirelessly for the growth and success of the APC” and is “not an eye-service party man but a committed and loyal member of the party.”

The group urged stakeholders to desist from what it described as divisive narratives aimed at undermining Senator Kalu and President Tinubu.

“We call on the people of Abia State and the South East to remain united, support the President’s vision and vote massively for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement added.
