The Secretary to the government of the federation, (SGF) Senator George Akume who is also a former governor of Benue State is to attend the the Government Secondary School, Otukpo Old Boys Association (OGSSOBA) as they prepare for their annual national convention, scheduled to take place on Friday, October 27th, and Saturday, October 28th, 2023, right on the school premises.
Sun Reports that OGSSOBA, a distinguished association of former students of Government Secondary School, Otukpo, Benue State, is committed to the enduring advancement of their alma mater and the overall betterment of society.
In a statement signed by its President Barr Paul Edeh, sent to Daily Sun on Friday noted that the association boasts prominent members who have made substantial contributions to national, state, and community development.
Edeh said among the distinguished alumni set to attend the convention is Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), who graduated from the school’s first set in 1971.
He added that the convention will also see the presence of the two immediate past Chief Judges of Benue State, Honourable Justices Hwande (late) and Adam Onum, along with numerous others who have achieved great heights in their respective professions.
The convention promises to be graced by the Governor of Benue State as the Special Guest of Honour, with the Deputy Governor as the Guest of Honour. The event will feature the election of new leadership for the association during the general assembly. He said
OGSSOBA has left a lasting impact on Government Secondary School, Otukpo, having executed several commendable projects over the years. These projects, which have significantly improved the teaching and learning environment, include: Renovation of the Staff room with the addition of 50 brand new desks and 50 chairs, Provision of classroom desks for 400 students.
Others include: Renovation of six classrooms, the Guidance and Counseling office, Dean of Studies’ office, the Compound Master’s office, the Principal’s residence, and the OGSSOBA National Secretariat, Renovation of the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Laboratories, Renovation of the School Sick Bay, Redesign and construction of the School gate.
“The annual convention of OGSSOBA is not only a reunion of old friends but also a testament to the enduring commitment of alumni to the betterment of their beloved alma mater and the society at large.”
