As the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno clock two years, Senator Aniekan Bassey of Akwa Ibom North-East has issued a formal commendation, citing notable policy successes and strategic progress at both federal and state levels.
In a press briefing in Uyo, the Senator stated that the two-year period has been marked by decisive leadership, targeted reforms, and measurable development outcomes. “This mid-term milestone reflects not only leadership competence but also a shared commitment to people-centered governance,” he said.
He detailed Governor Umo Eno’s implementation of the ARISE Agenda, highlighting infrastructure delivery—including the construction and rehabilitation of more than 599 kilometers of access roads—as a key factor in rural economic stimulation. Educational advancements under Governor Eno include the establishment of 17 digitally enabled model schools and significant improvements in teacher welfare.
In healthcare, the administration has upgraded 16 primary healthcare facilities, many of which now function on renewable energy, and conducted outreach programs impacting over 50,000 residents. Agriculture and youth empowerment programs, including the Dakkada Agricultural Scheme and the “One Youth One Skill” initiative, have seen considerable investment and impact.
Senator Bassey also praised President Tinubu’s handling of critical national reforms. He referenced the subsidy removal and exchange rate consolidation as “economically necessary and strategically prudent,” adding that these have improved fiscal discipline and investor confidence. He noted infrastructure expansion projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and educational initiatives such as the national student loan scheme and vocational training programs.
Security, according to the Senator, remains a top priority with ₦2.1 trillion allocated and ongoing investment in modern surveillance, equipment, and community-level intelligence operations. He also lauded the Digital Nigeria Programme for broadening digital inclusion and technological development.
Senator Bassey concluded by urging stakeholders to maintain bipartisan support for the ongoing reforms. “These achievements are foundational. Sustained collaboration between government, citizens, and institutions will be essential in driving long-term national prosperity,” he affirmed.
