Following its inability to conclude its budget defence sessions before the January 24 deadline, the Senate has extended its plenary break to February 4, allow for more consultations.

The House of Representatives had on Friday announced the extension of its plenary to the same date for same reason.

Clerk of the Senate, Mr Andrew Nwoba, made this known in an internal memo dated Friday, January 24, addressed to all senators.

The Senate had initially set January 30, 2025 as the date for passage of the budget. It was scheduled to resume plenary on Tuesday, January 28 for consideration of the budget report to be submitted by the Committee on Appropriations.

Submission of reports by respective committees to the Appropriations Committee started on Thursday.
