Kaduna South Senator Barr Sunday Marshall Katung said he has attracted agricultural investment worth $6 million from the United States of America to improve the economy of the people of Southern Kaduna.

The lawmaker stated this Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jema’a local government area of the state during the 2024 National Agricultural Day Celebration organized by the National Association of Agricultural Students, Kaduna State University Chapter.

According to him, the investors have concluded plans to invest in agriculture in Southern Kaduna and quickly added that upon arrival the potential investors would train farmers on the use of Artificial intelligence (AI) technology to farm.

He said “The future of Nigeria depends on our ability to guarantee food security and harness the potential in the agricultural sector.

“We must go back to that era when everyone was involved in production, whether for subsistence or commercial purposes.

“We need to unearth the opportunities for employment and wealth creation in agriculture.

“In southern Kaduna, there abound untapped potentials in piggery, ranching, fishery, and processing for exports, and our youths need to develop an interest in those areas while also seeking partnerships that will help them blossom”.

Commending President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and other security for securing the most troubled communities in Southern Kaduna, the Senator urged investors to come to the region that is now ready and secured for their businesses.

He emphasized the need for his constituents to prepare themselves for the great revolution that is coming to boost their potential along the agricultural value chain.

He, however, thanked the federal government for the release of N1.6 billion to ginger farmers who suffered last year’s ginger disease, saying though $not what was hoped for, it is still tremendous support.”
