This must be happy times for musician turned-politician, Banky W, who coasted home to victory during the elections held last Saturday across the country.
The singer contested on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDN) and against the backdrop of the fact that he neither had godfather nor financial muscle; he emerged victorious.
Commenting, PR/Artiste Manager, Kaycee Oguejiofor, said: “Banky W succeeded due to sheer dint of hard work and tenacity of purpose. He had no godfather or anyone pushing him. He is an icon for Nigerian youth, so I congratulate him. What he achieved in this part of the world is unprecedented. Without a godfather, and not being a member of any of the major political parties, he won a federal seat.”
According to Oguejiofor, Banky’s victory at the polls is a further evidence that the youths must wake up and begin to take power as no one will handover power to them. “Banky’s victory didn’t come easy, as he leveraged on his and his wife’s popularity, engaged his followers on social media and did ward-by-ward, door-to-door meetings with the people of his constituents who are predominantly youths and fellow entertainers,” he stated.
