The Beyond The High Killer Cure Campus Tour, a nationwide youth engagement movement by Seal Films Africa, officially commenced at the Yaba College of Technology on Friday, June 26, bringing together students, educators, health professionals, government representatives, creatives and advocates for a renewed conversation on drug abuse among young Nigerians.
The pilot edition recorded more than 500 attendees, with students continuously joining the event throughout the day. Building on the strong turnout, organisers project the tour will engage between 700 and 2,000 students per campus as it expands to 20 to 25 tertiary institutions across Nigeria, creating one of the country’s largest youth focused anti drug awareness movements.
Held to commemorate the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the event combined film, storytelling and open dialogue to encourage students to make informed choices beyond temporary highs.
At the heart of the campaign is Killer Cure, an emotionally charged feature film inspired by real events that explores the devastating consequences of opioid and prescription drug abuse, while exposing the greed and corruption that fuel the crisis. Through the story of an ordinary electrician whose discovery of an illegal drug distribution network places his family in grave danger, the film examines addiction, survival, resilience and the cost of pursuing justice. Rather than relying on statistics and lectures, the film invites audiences to experience the human realities behind substance abuse, creating space for reflection and meaningful conversations.
Following the screening, students participated in an interactive panel session that allowed them to engage directly with experts, actors and advocates on the realities and consequences of drug abuse.
Convened by Henry Alabi, the initiative is built on the belief that meaningful youth engagement requires more than traditional awareness campaigns. Instead, it seeks to meet young people where they are through entertainment, culture, music and honest conversations.

Representing the Dean of Student Affairs at Yaba College of Technology, Mrs. Abiola Jegede, Deputy Registrar, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to initiatives that promote healthy decision making and positive student development.
Speaking during the event, Henry Alabi explained that the campaign was intentionally designed to communicate with young people in a way they naturally connect with “Drug abuse has become a major epidemic. We realised that if we truly want to reach young people, we have to speak their language. That language is storytelling, entertainment, music, culture and conversation. That is what Beyond The High is about.”
The panel featured respected voices from different sectors including Dr. Emmanuel Ojibo, Chief Executive Officer of Achieving Greatness Ltd, Chinyere Nduu Okoro, an addiction therapist, Abisola Ladipo, Founder of Talent Sphere Africa, Mr. Akinsanya Abel, Assistant Director, Narcotics and Controlled Substances representing NAFDAC, alongside Nollywood actors Scarlet Gomez and Jude Orhorha, both of whom starred in Killer Cure.
Addressing the students, actor Jude Orhorha urged young people to reject substance abuse and recognise its long term consequences. “Drug abuse destroys lives and affects mental health. Young people need to understand that they can achieve great things without drugs. That is why films like Killer Cure are important because they allow people to see the consequences and learn from them.”
Actress Scarlet Gomez encouraged students to seek healthier alternatives and stronger support systems. “There are healthier things you can be passionate about that give you purpose without destroying your future. Parents also have an important role to play. Beyond discipline, they should build friendships with their children so they feel safe enough to talk before problems grow.”
The event also featured live entertainment, audience engagement and an open question and answer session, giving students an opportunity to reflect on the film and discuss practical ways to resist peer pressure, addiction and other social challenges affecting young people.
Held under the theme “Beyond The High: Choose Purpose. Choose Life,” the campus tour aims to spark a nationwide movement that combines storytelling with meaningful youth engagement to address one of Nigeria’s most pressing social challenges.
With a successful pilot now completed at Yaba College of Technology and a growing number of students already looking forward to the next stop, the Beyond The High Killer Cure Campus Tour now begins its journey across Nigeria, taking its message of awareness, conversation and hope to campuses nationwide.
The movement has begun. The only question now is, which campus is next.
