Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, are among the dignitaries expected to grace the 2025 edition of the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) Day.

The annual event, which celebrates the contributions of tradesmen and artisans across the state, is scheduled to hold on July 24, 2025, at Agidingbi in Ikeja, Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu is billed to serve as the chief host.

LASCOTA is the umbrella body overseeing the activities of more than 70 registered associations of tradesmen and artisans across the state. It boasts thousands of members spread across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.

In a statement signed by the council’s President, Lawrence Ajayi, the 2025 celebration will also feature the presence of the council’s Grand Patron, His Eminence Cardinal James Odumbaku, as well as top government officials, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and key figures from the private sector.

Ajayi noted that the event will spotlight the critical role artisans and tradesmen play in nation-building and economic development. He called on all members of the council to participate actively and attend in large numbers.

Ahead of the celebration, LASCOTA’s leadership including its President, Ajayi; General Secretary, Mr. Durojaye Obamuyi; and Treasurer, Mr. Yesiru Bello met with Cardinal Odumbaku to present a proposal for an empowerment initiative targeting tradesmen and artisans.
The plan aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader development agenda.

The council also reaffirmed its dedication to promoting skills development, business formalization, and strong grassroots representation for its members.
