Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended All On as the company marks its 10th anniversary, described the organisation as an important contributor to Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Biodun Ogunleye, disclosed that Lagos remains committed to creating an enabling policy environment for innovation and private sector participation in the electricity market.
Nigeria’s renewable energy stakeholders gathered at the event as All On, Partnerships for Energy Access, marked its 10th anniversary with a Dinner and Fireside Chat, bringing together leaders from government, development finance institutions, the private sector, and the renewable energy industry to celebrate a decade of investment and set the agenda for the next phase of energy access.
Welcoming guests, Chief Executive Officer of the group, Caroline Eboumbou, said it has evolved from an ambitious vision into one of Nigeria’s leading impact investors and ecosystem builders.
She acknowledged the founding Board Chairman, Osagie Okunbor, the board, investees, partners, government institutions, and communities for their role in shaping the first decade.
Eboumbou said experience showed that expanding energy access required more than financing alone.
“We realised very quickly that we needed to be more than just an investor. Building this market required us to combine catalytic capital with technical assistance, venture support, ecosystem development, and strategic partnerships. That is how lasting impact is created,” she said.
She noted that the organisation’s work has contributed to reaching nearly two million lives through patient capital, innovation, and collaboration across the renewable energy ecosystem.
A highlight of the evening was a fireside conversation between Eboumbou and Damilola Ogunbiyi, Chief Executive Officer and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All. They discussed the evolution of Nigeria’s off-grid energy sector and the partnerships needed to deliver universal energy access across Africa.
Ogunbiyi commended All On for its role in building institutions that strengthen businesses and mobilise investment rather than just funding projects. Both agreed that the next decade will require stronger partnerships and sustained investment to ensure millions more Africans gain access to reliable and affordable energy.
An Impact Showcase followed, with Dalberg presenting findings from an independent evaluation of the organisation’s first decade. The assessment highlighted contributions to business growth, market development, and opportunities for underserved communities through catalytic investment, venture building, and ecosystem development.
A second panel discussion focused on the future of Nigeria’s renewable energy sector. Moderated by Abiodun Oni, Chief Executive Officer of FundCo, the panel featured Sandra Dozie, Chief Executive Officer of Salpha Energy, and Muhammad Wakil, Country Delivery Lead for Nigeria at the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
The speakers identified local manufacturing, innovative financing, enabling policy, and strategic collaboration as key drivers for the next phase of the energy transition.
The event also featured a recognition segment where Awards of Excellence were presented to organisations and individuals who have strengthened Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem.
Honourees included the Rockefeller Foundation, Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre, Sustainable Energy for All, the Rural Electrification Agency, the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, Shell Nigeria, and Osagie Okunbor, Founding Chairman of the All On board.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising catalytic capital, strengthening businesses, and deepening partnerships to accelerate access to clean energy for millions more Nigerians.
It disclosed that the first decade demonstrated what is possible, and the next decade will be about scaling that impact.
