Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle to sign Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye in a deal worth up to £65m, beating Tottenham Hotspur to the Senegal international.
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of Everton’s standout players since joining the club from Marseille in 2024 and is now set to undergo a medical before completing his move to the Premier League champions.
According to a report by David Ornstein, the agreement is an initial £65m package, with the deal now at the paperwork stage ahead of Ndiaye’s expected medical on Tuesday.
Tottenham had also shown strong interest in the forward and were reportedly pursuing him as they looked to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes. City, however, moved decisively to win the race.
Ndiaye has established himself as an important player for both club and country. He scored nine goals in his first season at Everton and followed that with six goals and three assists last season.
His performances have also strengthened his reputation on the international stage. Ndiaye represented Senegal at the 2026 World Cup and was part of the squad that reached the Africa Cup of Nations final and initially won the tournament before Senegal were subsequently stripped of the title.
The move represents another major investment by City during a busy summer transfer window. The club have already committed significant fees to midfielders Ayyoub Bouaddi and Elliot Anderson, with the two deals reportedly costing close to £200m combined.
City have also raised substantial funds through player departures, including Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, Savinho, James Trafford and Nico González.
With the squad undergoing significant changes, manager Enzo Maresca has continued to strengthen his options ahead of the new campaign, with Ndiaye now poised to become another major addition.
City could yet make another headline-making move before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández also reportedly attracting interest from the Manchester club.
For Ndiaye, the move would provide an opportunity to take his career to another level after two productive seasons at Everton and make his mark at one of England’s biggest clubs.
