A Hausa-themed film, “Samari,” which retells the biblical story of Joseph, has been released after a challenging but faith-filled production journey.
Founder of Vision Drama Missions Outreach International, Felix Bankole, conceived the project in 2018, and the execution brought together past students of Mount Zion Institute with a shared goal of spreading the gospel through drama.
“Samari” distinguishes itself not just through its cultural setting but also through the dedication to excellence in its storytelling and acting. The production team prioritized meticulous detail in bringing the epic tale to life. Faith played a crucial role throughout the film’s creation, with prayer and trust in divine guidance underpinning every decision, from casting to execution.
Funding proved to be a significant hurdle. Producers acknowledged that additional financial resources could have further enhanced the film. However, they emphasized the divine provision that enabled them to complete the project despite these limitations.
“Samari” tackles themes of sexual purity, faithfulness, and God’s deliverance in the face of adversity. The filmmakers hope to reach a broad audience, exploring both cinema releases and streaming platforms for wider accessibility.
The team behind “Samari” offers a message of encouragement to aspiring Christian filmmakers: prioritize a strong message, strive for excellent production, and maintain unwavering faith.
