In a bid to rescue a Chinese national at a construction company in Ogaminana, Adavi local government area of Kogi State , a soldier who was on guard was killed by gun men suspected to be kidnappers.

It was learnt that the abductors in their numbers invaded the construction site on Monday, forcefully abducting a Chinese national and whisked him away immediately.

It was also gathered that the abductors abandoned their vehicle at the junction of the Radio Kogi Booster station at Otite, just some few meters away from the scene of the kidnap.

The source added that the combined team of the military, police, hunters and vigilante gave the kidnappers a hot chase, forcing them to abandon the Chinese citizen.

“The joint task force are still combing the bushes around the area for possible arrest of the criminals.

“The soldiers on duty tried their best to repel the criminals, but they were overpowered, by their numbers. There is need for the authorities to draft more men to the area and other flash points in the area,” the source said.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Kogi State Command, SP William Ovye Aya, said he was still awaiting the report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area for detailed information about the incident.
