Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has rolled out its operational strategy in 2026 which centers on allocating substantial funds towards acquiring modern ground handling equipment and generally upgrading its services.

These measures align with internationally-recognised standards and reflect the company’s commitment to efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability. According to SAHCO Head of Corporate Communications, Vanessa Uansohia, the new equipment is eco-friendly and designed to boost the company’s ability to provide seamless services to domestic and international airlines. “The replacement of ageing machinery with environmentally compliant technology is central to our sustainability agenda,” she said. Such moves demonstrate how investments in equipment directly enhance service quality while maintaining regulatory compliance.

SAHCO also recognises that equipment upgrades must be matched with skilled manpower. The company has renewed its Training School authorisation and expanded its curriculum to include a broader range of courses reflecting global best practices. By investing in personnel development alongside technology, SAHCO ensures that staff can operate new equipment efficiently and safely.

The company’s 2025 performance laid a strong foundation for 2026. SAHCO welcomed several new airlines, including Ethiopian Airlines, Air Tanzania, Air Algérie, ValueJet Airlines, United Nigeria Airlines, Pioneer Airlines, Binani Airlines, ExeJet, Enugu Air, and Air Peace. These expansions reflect growing market confidence in the company’s operational capacity.

Managing Director, Nike Aboderin emphasised that SAHCO’s investments in equipment, manpower, and sustainability initiatives ensure continued leadership in ground handling services. She said the dual focus on modern infrastructure and skilled personnel is critical to delivering safe, punctual, and efficient operations to clients. Looking ahead, SAHCO said it will deploy eco-friendly equipment across all operational hubs and enhance manpower training through hands-on programmes and technical certifications. This strategy ensures that technology and expertise evolve together, improving performance and operational resilience.
