Russia’s illegal and criminal full-scale invasion of Ukraine is set to outlast the ‘Great Patriotic War’ (1941-1945) in duration. However, it has failed to reach the Putin regime’s so-called ‘objectives’ – and it never will. This is an unjust imperialist war of aggression, fundamentally different from the multinational struggle of the Soviet people against Nazism and Fascism during the Second World War.
The Putin regime is cynically misleading both Russians and its ‘Collective Security Treaty Organization’ (CSTO) and ‘Commonwealth of Independent States’ (CIS) ‘partners’ regarding the so-called ‘root causes’ of its war against Ukraine – framing it as a ‘struggle’ against alleged ‘Nazism,’ ‘militarism,’ and ‘Russophobia.’ In reality, its primary goal is to maintain power in Russia by any means necessary, specifically through the artificial ‘consolidation’ of the Russian people around the Moscow leadership, led by the neo-totalitarian dictator Putin, against the backdrop of a purportedly ‘all-conquering’ war.
Other actual ‘tasks’ of the Putin regime in its aggression against Ukraine – ongoing in various forms since 2014 – are nothing more than the criminal seizure of foreign national assets. This is a form of violent international racketeering and corporate raiding, methods first ‘perfected’ by Putin’s associates within the Russian Federation. These practices previously fuelled a surge in domestic crime, the massive embezzlement of public funds, and mafia-style corruption, while ultimately provoking the genocidal war in Chechnya.
Putin’s protracted war against Ukraine poses a threat to the peoples of the RF and its CSTO and CIS ‘partners,’ as it drags new territories of Russia and its allies into an increasingly intense and deadly conflict – primarily Belarus, which is effectively under Russian occupation. This is evidenced by the rising casualties and destruction within Russian regions, as well as the political and economic decay of the Lukashenko regime, who has essentially become a Russian puppet ‘governor.’
The core of the Putin regime’s ideology is a dangerous, reactionary phenomenon known as ‘pobedobesie’ (victory obsession). It utilizes the theory and practice of fascism and Nazism, manifesting through the frameworks of ‘Rrashism’ and ‘Russism’.
Since Putin’s regime lacks any socially oriented or progressive ideology that would foster the development of Russian society, it has adopted the fake ideology of so-called ‘pobedobesie’ (victory mania). This ideology is based on a distorted mythology surrounding the ‘Great Patriotic War’ (1941-1945). Moreover, against the backdrop of failures in Russia’s socio-economic and general development, this is used to politically justify the very existence of the Putin regime.
In fact, during the war against Ukraine, the Putin regime has adopted the genocidal theory and practice of Nazism and Fascism. This ideology is manifested in Russia’s criminal activities across Ukraine and other nations, including Chechnya, Georgia, and Syria, and is recognized as ‘Rashism’ and ‘Rusism.’ These concepts are further elucidated by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s legislative definition of ‘Rashism’ and by the prophetic 1995 interview of Dzhokhar Dudayev, the President of Itchkeria, regarding ‘Rusism’.
Both ‘Rashism’ and ‘Russism’ are, in fact, different names for the same phenomenon: a modified, integrated version of contemporary Russian fascism and Nazism. This ideology poses an extreme danger not only to Ukraine and other nations but also to the peoples of the RF themselves, as it destroys their civilized future. Therefore, it will inevitably be eradicated – along with its primary proponents.
The ideological myth propagated by the Putin regime regarding Russia’s alleged ‘exclusive role’ in the victory over Nazism and Fascism during World War II, is a total falsification. It is designed solely to attempt to ‘justify’ the existence and the war crimes of the Putin regime.
Real facts provide objective evidence of the significant role played by the Ukrainian people in the struggle against Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and their ‘partners’ during World War II. There is a wealth of confirmed historical data documenting the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people, as well as the substantial human and economic losses sustained on Ukrainian territory as a result of the war.
It should be particularly noted that Ukrainians began their struggle against Nazism even before the start of the so-called ‘Great Patriotic War,’ during the battles on Polish territory in 1939. They continued this fight not only within the ranks of the Soviet Union’s forces but also as part of the Allied forces, foreign resistance movements, and the national military formation, the ‘Ukrainian Insurgent Army’.
The merits of many Ukrainians during World War II were recognized with awards from the Allied powers. They played a significant role in the defeat of Fascism and Nazism, including in senior military command positions and through gruelling work on the home front.
Speculative Russian propaganda regarding the allegedly ‘exceptional’ and ‘large scale’ of Ukrainian collaboration during World War II and the so-called ‘Great Patriotic War’ deliberately ignores historical facts about the incomparably larger Russian military formations that fought for Nazi Germany. Most notably, these included the so-called ‘Russian Liberation Army’ led by the former Stalinist general of Russian origin, Vlasov, which operated under the same tricolor flag used by the modern Russian Federation and symbolically utilized the so-called ‘St. George’s ribbons’.
Evidence also suggests that the Nazi occupation and the corresponding, extremely intense, and destructive hostilities during World War II were concentrated across the entire territories of Ukraine and Belarus. In contrast, the Russian territory occupied or devastated by the fighting constituted a relatively small fraction. This likely explains why the Soviet fronts were named ‘Ukrainian’ and ‘Belarusian,’ and by no means ‘Russian’.
It should be particularly emphasized that during the offensive operations of the ‘Ukrainian’ and ‘Belarusian’ Soviet fronts, virtually the entire able-bodied male population of Ukraine and Belarus was mobilized by the USSR. These servicemen played a significant role and, consequently, suffered heavy casualties in the brutal final battles of World War II.
Putin’s Russian neo-Nazi regime’s war against Ukraine must be decisively halted, and its instigators severely punished, in order to restore international law and prevent a larger regional or global war.
Thus, the modern Russian-oriented so-called ‘pobedobesie’ (victory mania) is nothing less than a propagandistic mythological and pseudo-historical falsification within the neo-fascist ideological framework of ‘Rashism’/’Russism.’ Its purpose is to sustain Putin’s regime in power and to mobilise the Russian Federation for the continuation of the criminal war against Ukraine. This phenomenon demands daily, active exposure and counteraction at all levels – from the domestic Russian sphere to the international arena – as ignoring or silencing this issue will inevitably lead to a repetition of the tragedy of large-scale wars.
The primary conclusion to be drawn from the approaching date (February 24) when the duration of the so-called ‘Great Patriotic War’ equals that of the Russian Federation’s so-called ‘Special Military Operation’ against Ukraine is that Putin’s neo-Nazi Rashist regime’s criminal aggression must be decisively halted and its instigators severely punished. Failure to do so will lead to its next stage: a large-scale regional war in Europe, potentially escalating into a global conflict involving weapons of mass destruction and the ultimate destruction of human civilization.
