– Bayelsa Govt raise alarm over theft of Solar lights

The Bayelsa State Head of Service, Mrs Biobelemoye Charles- Onyeama has warned Civil servants to run away from ill-gotten wealth.

Mrs Charles- Onyema stated this during the dedication service held for the Bayelsa State Civil Service held in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

According to her Civil servants in the state should refrain from cutting corners and acquiring ill-gotten wealth in 2024.

The number one civil servant who assured that the state government would continue to prioritize welfare of civil servants commended CAN for the dedication service which it started in 2021.

 

“We will continue to cater for the welfare of our workers. We are embarking on continuous training and retraining in this new year. Let us maintain integrity as we discharge our duties, let’s be hardworking and let’s be diligent. Let us not be in a rush for money.

“I want to thank the chairman and members of CAN for coming up with this programme. There is nothing else we can do but dedicate our lives to God.

Runaway from ill-gotten wealth, I know the temptations are there but please, stand firm on your faith. Let us show our faith in all that we do, let’s avoid cutting corners, let’s pursue integrity and uprightness and then the civil service will be better for us.

Meanwhile the Bayelsa State government has raised alarm over the vandalization and theft of newly installed solar lights in the state.

Sources in Government House said the government has directed security agents in the state to go after the perpetrators engaging in the criminal action.

Investigations revealed that solar lights installed at the newly commissioned Glory Drive Road and Igbogene- Elebele- AIT outer ring have been badly affected from the series of vandalization and theft carried out.
