Rotary Club of Lagos Festac Cosmopolitan yesterday donated birth delivery kits to pregnant women in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Several pregnant women who attended antenatal care at the Amuwo Odofin Primary Health Centre, Festac, received safe birth kits, with each containing a nursing mother bag, a mosquito treated net, two pieces of cord clamp, a pack of cotton wool, a pack of sanitary pads, two pairs of surgical blade, a pack of razor blades, a pack of scalpel blades, a pack of mucus extractor and a pack of Chlorxy-G gel, plus extra 25 mosquito treated nets.
Addressing the women, Ik Ugwu told them that what the members of the club had done was to help them with some of the items needed for delivery.
He said: “This is our own little way of saying that we care and pray for a safe delivery for you and your baby.
“Inside the bag are those things you are usually asked to buy for your delivery, so that the burden will not be so much on you.”
Responding, the chief nursing mother in charge of the health centre, thanked the Club for the gesture but pleaded with the Club to consider improving their lab next time.
Ugwu promised that the Club would reach out to her in future to find out the peculiar need of the health centre.
