The President/Chairman of governing board, Risk Managers Society of Nigeria (RIMSON), Mr. Gus Wiggle, has tasked fellow risk management professionals to watch out for risks associated with politics and advice accordingly to save Nigeria from imminent doom.

RIMSON’s president who made this charge in his speech during the Society’s 2022 annual conference held in Abuja, said, “As our country, Nigeria approaches the election year, 2023, it also behooves us as risk management professionals to support our nation with critical advice, focusing all strata of governance and the need to activate adequate risk management controls in ensuring that the elections are conducted successfully,”

Wiggle maintained that the Society would continue to address critical issues associated with Political Risks with the view to mitigating the impact of fierceness, radicalism and extremism associated with Nigeria’s politics of late.

“Today, more than ever, the professional risks manager is challenged by the compelling need to deploy his skills and expertise in the development of risk management strategies for entrenching greater resilience across a wide spectrum of human endeavours.”

He advised risk management experts across sectors to roll up their sleeves as the world is overwhelmed with unprecedented events disrupting the virtually every spheres of human endeavour.

“Recent experiences have no doubt exposed the vulnerability of the global economy on account of multi-facetted challenges, including supply chain disruptions, heightened by the swift effects of globalization and digitalisation which trigger shockwaves across production channels with impacts on pricing and availability of products and services,” he added.

He added that RIMSON would  consciously continue to contribute its quota to the peace and progress of Nigeria in line with its mandate, “We shall not relent nor stand aloof and watch things go more awry. We must all come out bold to fix this country. Professionals across board must not give up in offering feasible solutions to the multifaceted challenges bedeviling the country. Though the government may not accept sound advice, however, we must do our bids till things turn around for the betterment of everyone,” he maintained.
