Public-spirited Nigerians to evacuate another set of 65 nationals from South Africa

Public-spirited Nigerians will on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, evacuate another set of Nigerians numbering 65 to the country.

The outgoing Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, disclosed this in a terse statement issued in Abuja.

The flight which is billed to depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa, will arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

The development is happening after the evacuation of 83 Nigerians earlier in the month by public-spirited private individuals to the country.

Ebienfa said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa tomorrow Wednesday 26th August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways. The expected time of arrival of the returnees at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos is 8.45pm in the evening same day.”

With the latest development, a total number of 1638 Nigerians have been successfully evacuated from South Africa to the country.
