Ayokanmi Eyanro, an Abuja-based Afro-pop star and social justice advocate known as Frequencie, has cautioned the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) against the reallocation of recreational parks and designated green areas for estate development and commercial activities.
In a statement released on Frequencie expressed concern over the rapid commercialization of these zones, arguing that the trend directly contradicts the original Abuja Masterplan.
“The majority of gardens have been reallocated for commercial purposes, violating the blueprint approved by the Federal Government. The primary goal of that plan was to create a serene, beautiful, and habitable capital city for both residents and visitors,” he said
He further noted that these green areas serve a critical environmental purpose, designed to regulate the city’s temperature and provide recreational spaces similar to those found in global hubs like London,
