In a bid to promote revenue harmonisation and ease of doing business, the Ondo State Government has convened a stakeholders resolution retreat on the harmonization of revenue and ease of doing business in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

At the retreat in Akure, Ondo State capital, the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, who represented Governor Rotimi Akeredolu noted that revenue harmonization and ease of doing business are the main ingredients of economic growth.

In his speech, the commissioner stated that revenue harmonization and its direct impact on economic growth and development are important to economic growth, adding that the retreat is aimed at fostering collaboration and dialogue towards streamlining revenue generation processes and creating a more conducive environment for businesses in the state.

He said, “Harmonizing revenue collection and improving the ease of doing business are crucial steps towards attracting investments and promoting economic prosperity. This retreat presents an opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute their ideas and experiences to shape policies that will drive growth in Ondo State.”

The retreat, which brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including business owners, investors, government officials, and regulatory agencies addressed key issues related to revenue generation, taxation, business regulations, and licensing.

The participants explored strategies to eliminate duplications, streamline processes, and leverage technology for effective revenue collection to enhance transparency, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive..

Representatives of the State Government from regulatory agencies, including the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (OSIRS), Ondo State Investment and Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), and the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, and Cooperatives, shared insights on their respective roles in revenue collection and their commitment to supporting businesses.
The participants commended Governor Akeredolu’s administration for organizing the retreat, describing it as a timely initiative that reflects the government’s proactive approach to economic development.

They expressed optimism that the resolutions and recommendations arising from the retreat would be implemented to enhance revenue generation and attract more investors to the state.

Governor Akeredolu reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that fosters economic growth, job creation, and overall development of Ondo State.
