The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to passing amendments to the Electoral Act in the best interest of Nigerians, assuring that the reforms will strengthen the credibility of elections across the country.
Speaking on Morning Brief on Channels Television, the House spokesperson, Hon. Akin Rotimi, who represents Ekiti North I Federal Constituency, said lawmakers are determined to ensure that the final version of the amended law delivers free, fair and credible elections.
He assured Nigerians that once the harmonisation process between the Senate and the House is concluded, lawmakers will work to implement the provisions of the amended Act.
“Continuous engagement is what we are going to do,” Rotimi said.

“The Chairman of the House Committee on Electoral Matters has been on this station several times. We will continue to engage and continue to work to earn the trust of Nigerians. That is the idea entirely.”
Rotimi stressed that the amendment process is aimed at restoring and strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system, urging citizens to remain actively involved in democratic discourse.
“That is the essence of democracy,” he added.
His remarks come amid sustained public debate over key provisions of the Electoral Act, particularly the controversy surrounding electronic transmission of election results and broader electoral transparency reforms.
