The House of Representatives has passed a budget of N1.28 trillion for the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), in the 2024 fiscal year.
The House passed the budget at Tuesday’s plenary, after the report of its Committee on FCT, on the budget, was considered and approved at the Committee on Supply. The committee report was earlier laid before the House by the chairman, Muktar Betara.
A breakdown of the FCT budget revealed that a total sum of N140.91 billion was appropriated for personnel costs; N373.02 billion for overhead and N768.32 billion for capital expenditure.
Recall that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had appeared before lawmakers on Monday for the defence of the FCT 2024 budget proposal.
Betara, while speaking at the budget defence session, had said his committee is committed to ensuring that fund appropriated for the capital city are well utilized. The lawmaker also stressed the need for a robust project monitoring mechanisms.
