Reps aspirant Ezebuilo Ceejay seeks IBB’s blessings in Minna

To establish IBB Technological Centre in Minna

From John Adams, Minna

A frontline politician and House of Representatives aspirant for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency in Imo State, Mazi Ezebuilo Ceejay Henry, has met with former military president Ibrahim Babangida at his hilltop mansion in Minna to seek his blessings over his political ambition for the 2027 election.

Mazi Ezebuilo Ceejay Henry, who is the political son of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State, is vying for the House of Representatives seat for Ideato North and South, Imo State Federal Constituency, in the next dispensation under the platform of the National Democrats Congress (NDC) party.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after a close meeting with his host, Mazi Ezebuilo, who described the former military president as his political hero, said he was in Minna to seek his fatherly blessings over his political ambition for 2027.

He said he was also in Minna to discuss the possibility of establishing what he called “IBB Technological Centre”, aimed at creating at least 1,500 jobs for the people of the state.

According to him, the IBB Technological Centre will see to the establishment of a multimillion-naira electricity-powered tricycle assembly plant in the state to honour former Nigerian President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).

Mazi Ezebuilo disclosed that he is working in collaboration with his United States-based business partners to establish the “IBB Technological Centre”, which is expected to create at least 1,500 jobs for the people of the state.

“I am in Niger State to inform my mentor and hero, His Excellency Ibrahim Babangida, of my political intentions and to receive his blessings. To also share my plans to provide jobs for jobless youths through investment in a tricycle assembly plant.”

When asked why he is establishing the tricycle assembly plant in Niger and not in any of the eastern states, Ezebuilo said his love for IBB and his philosophy about Nigeria endeared him to the elder statesman, and these prompted his choice of Niger State for the dual electricity- and fuel-powered tricycle assembly plant.

“IBB Technological Centre is to provide, for a start, 1,500 jobs. We want to replicate what we have done in two other African countries here in Niger State,” Ezebuilo, who is the Chairman of SHEZ Energy, further explained.

Meanwhile, the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency aspirant has called for attitudinal change in political mentality whereby Nigerians always direct attacks on the executive arm of government alone, leaving out the legislature, the judiciary and, of course, the media, which are the fourth estate of the realm.

“When you blame the executive for failing to execute well, you should equally hold legislators accountable for not legislating well, the judiciary for not doing their bits by being unbiased and quick in the dispensation of justice, and you journalists for not exposing the rot in your writings when you see things going wrong.”

He argued that “blame or criticism should be across all four arms that constitute government, not singling out the executive, as the case has always been. Hold your legislators, judiciary, and you, the media, accountable for systemic failures.”

Ezebuilo, who blamed current lapses in the legislature, National Assembly in particular, on incompetence, added that until Nigerians vote for merit and not for the sake of filling the quota system, failures will always occur.

While calling on voters to vote for people who are competent as President, Senators, Governors, members Federal House of Representative, and State Houses of Assemblies in 2027, Ezebuilo is also advising people against seeking political office when they have little or no knowledge of what they are going to do.

“Citizens suffer when you have people who have nothing to offer as leaders, and that is why I am calling on Nigerians to hold the legislators representing them at various levels accountable for their stewardship.”
