Hundreds of members from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) gathered in Lagos at choice locations, at the weekend, for a prayer/evangelical walk, seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s current security and economic challenges’

During the walk, the congregation prayed for healing of the country and called on God to answer Nigeria’s pressing issues.

Lagos Province 14, Head Pastor, Steve Jaiyeoba, who led the evangelical walk, said it was a drive to grow the church from its present less than three million membership to 40 million in 2032.

“We want to ensure that 40 million souls are brought to God’s kingdom. The more people in God’s kingdom, the more sane our society becomes and expansion of the church,” he said.

Jaiyeoba said the church has been able to play a vital role in nation-building.

“Despite the church’s efforts, there have been several societal ills. If the church is not here, things would have been worse,” he said.

He said he belief, there is no challenge beyond divine intervention.

The pastor said RCCG is leaving no stone unturned to bring the church’s vision to reality, saying the problem really is that many have lost passion for souls and are not doing the work of evangelism, which has reflected in the society.

“We want to revive it and ensure everyone wins a soul, at least, every month in order to depopulate hell and ensure our society is free from crime.

“It is not just about doing church. And that was the basis for the need for the vision 2032. It is to wake the church from its lethargy and cause members to respond to the cry of people that are still lost in the world,” he said.

Jaiyeoba urged Nigerians to continue praying for divine guidance for the country’s leaders, expressing confidence that through intercession, Nigeria would experience healing

On her part, Provincial Assistant Head Usher, Taiwo Olowe, said RCCG General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, gave them 40 million vision to run by 2032.

“As ushers in Lagos Province 14, we decided to embark on this evangelical walk, praying, praising and preaching the gospel. While we win souls for God, we praise and equally pray for our nation,” Olowe said.

She acknowledged the country’s prevailing security and economic challenges but emphasised hope and urged Nigerians, especially the youths, not to lose hope and encouraged them to believe in the nation’s potential.

Olowe highlighted the crucial role of the youths in the country’s growth and success, urging them to have faith and look beyond the ordinary and noted that Nigeria’s challenges are not significantly different from those encountered by other countries on their path to growth.
