The traditional ruler-elect of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Aloysius Ogbonna has commended the governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah for his massive support to the current NPFL champions-elect, Enugu Rangers International.
Ogbonna who made this commendation on Tuesday in a statement said that from inauguration, Gov Mbah has shown commitment towards improving all sectors of the state, including youth and sports development, which has significantly contributed to reigniting the champion spirit in the state’s football team.
“On behalf of the people of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area, I, Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna Jnr., Ikemba Enugu, extend my heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for the remarkable success of Enugu Rangers International in securing their 8th Nigerian Premier League title.
“Founded in 1970, Enugu Rangers International has a storied history of excellence, and this latest triumph, after defeating Bendel Insurance 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, marks a significant milestone in our club’s illustrious journey. The Rangers have previously won the league in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, and 2016, and this year’s victory adds to their legendary status.
“This victory is particularly special as it signifies a renaissance for the club, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years. Under your visionary leadership, Governor Mbah, Enugu Rangers have been revitalized and have reclaimed their rightful place at the pinnacle of Nigerian football.
“Your commitment to the development of sports infrastructure in Enugu State has been exemplary. The completion of the renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium’s pitch has provided the team with a world-class facility to call home after two years of playing their home matches in Anambra State. This investment has not only uplifted the team’s morale but also reignited the passion of our supporters.
Chief Ogbonna praised the governor’s appointment of the General Manager of the team, Amobi Ezeaku, a FIFA-certified football manager, whose fresh perspective and innovative strategies have been instrumental in the team’s success.
“Moreover, your strategic appointment of key personnel has been instrumental in the team’s success. The appointment of Barr. Amobi Ezeaku, a FIFA-certified Football manager , as the team’s manager has brought a fresh perspective and innovative strategies that have paid dividends. His leadership, combined with the tactical acumen of Coach Fidelis Illechukwu, has been pivotal in the team’s resurgence.
“Additionally, bringing in one of the finest minds in football analysis, Emeka Onaga, as the team’s psychologist and data analyst, has provided the players with the mental fortitude and analytical insights necessary to perform at their best. This holistic approach to team management has set a new standard in Nigerian football.
“The victory of Enugu Rangers International is a testament to the power of effective leadership and the importance of investing in sports. It highlights how infrastructural development, strategic appointments, and unwavering support can transform a team and bring glory to the state.
