The wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab-Nasare Idris, has donated N10 million to Association of Kebbi Women Entrepreneurs to boost their respective businesses.
She made the donation at the closing ceremony of a two-day Ramadan Funfair organised by the association held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.
Idris, who said the gesture was meant to encourage women to stand on their feet and ensure their participation in various trades, pleaded with the convener’s of the funfair to ensure that every participants benefit from the grant for them to boost their respective businesses.
She noted that the funfair had achieved its set goals and objectives considering the number of participants as well as the level of engagement.
While urging the women not to be discouraged, the Governor’s wife encouraged them to be up and doing to become employers of labour.
In her remark, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Halima Muhammad Bande, advised the traders to allow their children to be educated while engaging in businesses for economic prosperity and societal growth.
Bande also told them that they must abide by religious prescriptions in buying and selling of goods as Commanded by Almighty God.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Nura Fingila, thanked the Governor’s wife for providing moral and material support to youths to engage in profitable ventures, including marketing.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic planning, Hajiya Aisha Usman who explained the values of entrepreneurship, urged the traders to imbibe the virtues of persistence and perseverance in trading activities under all circumstances as prerequisite for success.
The Secretary of Nasara Foundation, joint organisers of the Fair, Alhaji Jamilu Yahaya, in his vote of thanks, expressed appreciation to the wife of the governor for her humanitarian services and provision of economic empowerment to the people for self reliance.
