Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, has lamented the party’s pathetic financial standing, saying poor funding is gradually killing the party in the state.
Ejidike made the lamentation while addressing members of the party at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, to deliberate on the various issues surrounding the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise.
“We have been having problems, challenges in this exercise; challenges in the sense that there is no money. We all know that you can’t run an organisation effectively without money.
“In an exercise of this magnitude, one should expect that there will be a provision for that. But of course you were told that each state should go and source funds to run and conduct this exercise.
“And as I am talking to you, APC Anambra State has not in any way received a dime from outside Anambra State. So far, we have been conducting this exercise with the little we were able to generate from amongst ourselves.”
Ejidike said two weeks earlier, some members of the party, during a meeting, donated money to enable the party commence the e-registration exercise in the state.

“Of course, you are aware that that particular day, Senator Uche Ekwunife was at that meeting and she gave us N1 million cash. Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe gave the party N2 million. Mrs Ajuora from Awka gave us N500,000. The ambassador designate, Nkechi Ufochukwu, also sent in the sum of N1 million.
“That’s all we generated so far. Other ones are additional from members of the state working committee. Immediately after that meeting, we called another meeting where we invited the supervisors.
“And in that meeting, we gave every ward N7,000 to buy data for that exercise. We have 326 wards. We gave all the supervisors N20,000 each. All the local government chairmen were given N30,000 each.
“For the Zonal Supervisors, because they have a lot to do, we gave them N100,000 each. The state officers were given N30,000 each. So, if you calculate what we have given out already, you will know that we have spent more than that”, he explained.
The APC chairman said that lack of funds was one of the major reasons the party lost the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election in the state to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
“You all know that we went into that election with almost nothing”, Ejidike reminded the party faithful, while lamenting the poor financial state of the political party.
