Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom, Senator John James Udoedehe, has identified personal interests of leaders in the state as one of the reasons for the delay in the development of the Ibom Deep Sea Ports project in the state.
Speaking during a media briefing with online newspaper publishers in Uyo, Senator Udoedehe said the facilitators of the Deep Sea Ports project could not factor in their personal interests that would make them and their generations millionaires when the project comes on board.
“Do you know why the Ibom Deep Sea Port delays? The reason is that our leaders facilitating the project could not factor in their interests that would make them millionaires forever.”
Udoedehe said he had decided to join the governorship race in the state to tackle poverty and unemployment facing citizens due to the personal interests of leaders.
He said the present APC government has received over N2.3 trillion but has nothing to show for it except rendering citizens poor and jobless.
He explained that with employment and poverty alleviation, the government can restore stability and social order.

Udoedehe insisted that he would not reveal his campaign strategy so that the opposition party would not steal it, adding that he would make a difference this time more than before.
“When we roll out our campaign strategy, Akwa Ibom people will be happy to vote for the ADC in Akwa Ibom State,” he said.
