Police probe murder of Plateau Rider manager in Bayelsa

From Femi Folaranmi, Yenagoa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the murder of Plateau Rider Manager in Yenagoa, Alhaji Auwalu Aliyu.

Aliyu was killed Tuesday night on his way home at a spot close to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Complex at Imbgi Road junction in Yenagoa.

The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu, who confirmed the probe of the murder said Aliyu’s murder is shocking.
CP Alonyenu in an interview said that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the crime’s circumstances.
He vowed that the killers would be found, stressing that the family of the deceased would get justice very soon.
According to him, preliminary investigations point to two dimensions as possible rationale behind Aliyu’s murder.

“The manner the rider was killed is alien to Bayelsa State. We have the suspicion that the deceased was stalked from Plateau to Bayelsa and killed or his death is related to a group of criminal elements currently assembled at Ogbia Local Government Area.

“So, the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased are two-dimensional. Our drone was able to capture the signatures of the vehicle that was used to carry out the operation. The last time the vehicle was sighted was that it was heading towards Ogbia.

“As I am speaking to you, the vehicle’s location is yet to be known but we are sure we will get it soon because we have every detail of the car. So we sympathize with the family of the deceased but we are sure they will get justice and that will happen very soon. “
