The Delta State Police Command yesterday trained  National Youth Service Corps members (NYSC) on cybercrime, law enforcement, citizen’s rights and responsibilities.

The lecture which  was delivered by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, at  NYSC Orientation Camp, Isele Uku, was in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to engage corps members nationwide.

Edafe urged the corps members to avoid crime, shun violence, and remain good ambassadors of Nigeria.

He also emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of others and outlined citizens’ responsibilities under Section 24 of the 1999 Constitution, which include:  obeying the law, showing patriotism, promoting peace, and supporting law enforcement.

On police accountability, the corps members were provided with phone numbers and other channels to report misconduct. The session was interactive, with participants raising questions that were addressed by the police.

The Command said the initiative was  to reshape the mindset of corps members for national service and life beyond, while strengthening trust between the police and the public.
