The Lagos State Police Command has shot dead four suspected kidnappers and rescued a medical doctor.
The medical doctor was kidnapped at St. François Hospital, Onikan, and taken to Delta State where they kept him before demanding ransom.
At a press conference yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the police through intelligence, traced the kidnappers to a thick forest in Delta State, where they engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle.
Four of the hoodlums were shot dead while others escaped He said the medical doctor was rescued and has since been united with his family.
The victim (names withheld) was kidnapped on December 9, 2016, and was rescued a week later.
The police recovered a car, a gun and large quantity of clothes, believed to belong to other victims.
Owoseni, who paraded 40 other suspected hoodlums, said they were arrested in different locations of the state.
According to him, between November 15 and December 15, 33 suspected armed robbers were arrested and 15 weapons were recovered from them.
Also, 1,085 cartridges and 18 vehicles were recovered from the suspects. Among the suspects paraded, were two kidnappers who abducted one Toyosi at Airport Road before the police rescued her, Owoseni said.
According to him, one Obinna Eze, a suspected kidnapper, was arrested after abducting a Chinese.
