Morocco’s national team coach, Walid Regragui, confirmed on Saturday that reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations represents the achievement of the first goal, stressing that the toughest challenge still lies ahead in the final match.
During the press conference preceding tomorrow’s match against Senegal, Regragui explained that “the anticipated encounter will be complicated, given the strength of the Senegalese team, which he described as one of the strongest teams at both the African and global levels.”
He added, “We will face a team accustomed to playing in finals, and the match will be largely balanced, although the home support gives us a slight advantage.”

The Atlas Lions’ coach spoke about the difficulty of playing on home soil and in front of the fans, emphasizing that “the pressure is doubled and emotions are running high, which has been a constant throughout the team’s journey in this tournament.” He added that “the Moroccan national team shows its true character in big matches,” considering this approach a key factor in the string of positive results the team has achieved over the past two years.
The Moroccan national team secured its place in the final after defeating Nigeria 4-2 on penalties, following a goalless draw in both regulation and extra time in their semi-final match. Regragui concluded his remarks by stressing that “winning the title in the heart of Rabat will not be an easy task for the Senegalese team,” saying, “Senegal will be required to deliver a very strong performance if they want to snatch the title from Rabat.”
