Plateau speaker, deputy resign

The crisis rocking the political circle in Plateau following the nullification of the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang took a turn for the worse with the resignation of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Moses Sule and his Deputy, Hon Gwottao

At a plenary on Tuesday, the house elected 30- year-old lawmaker and member representing Pankshin North state Constituency, Gabriel Dewan.

Dewan is of the Young Peoples people’s Party (YPP)

Timothy Dantong of Riyom state constituency was also elected as the deputy speaker.

Sule, who was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) told his colleagues that he resigned on personal grounds.

The newly elected speaker, who spoke to journalist shortly after his electionz said he will represent the house well and carry all members along in his leadership irrespective of the political party.
