…Gov declares three working days to mourn

Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Samuel Galadima, slumped and died during a jogging exercise, yesterday.
Daily Sun gathered that Galadima slumped at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos at about 6: 46am, where Governor Simon Lalong, Deputy Governor Sonny Tyoden and other members of the state executive council observed the monthly exercise.
He was reportedly rushed to the state Specialist Hospital in Jos where he was confirmed dead after first aid treatments by Government House medical personnel.
A witness told Daily Sun the late commissioner, who was said to have been managing high blood pressure, arrived the Rwang Pam Township Stadium at about 5:57am and jogged round the football pitch for about 4 times before the exercise kicked-off.
“He personally jogged round the football pitch four times and I went, once, with him. Thereafter, executive council members rounded the field once and assembled at the centre of the football pitch. As the person moderating the exercise ordered them to breathe in and out, the commisisoner suddenly collapsed and there was pandemonium.’’
Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Emmanuel Nanle confirmed the incident.
Galadima, who hailedfrom Jos East Local Government Area of the state was inaugurated on the 16 December, 2016, alongside 17 commissioners into the state executive council.
Meanwhile, Governor Simon Lalong has declared three, free working days to mourn Galadima.
In a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Rufus Bature, he expressed shock over the sad event and said he was deeply grieved with the manner in which his commissioner slumped and died.
“Lalong, on behalf of the Government of Plateau State, with sincere sense of loss, deeply grieved to announce the sudden demise ofcCommissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Samuel Galadima, who passed on to glory this morning, (yesterday), at the age of 64. The governor has, as a result of this tragic loss, declared three days mourning, beginning from today (yesterday), Wednesday, March 22 to Friday, March 24, 2017.
“The governor has, also, suspended all public functions, in keeping with the mourning mood of the state.
Meanwhile
His death came less than one month after the demise of Deputy Chief of State to the governor, Mr. Gambo Hawaja and Chief Admin Officer, Government House Administration, Late Mr. Dashe Pius Latsha.
A condolence register has been opened at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and at his resident along Lamingo Road in Jos North Local Government Area of the state where sympathizers have been trooping in to mourn with the widow.
