Pilgrim’s guarantor arrested for absconding

Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has arrested one Chidi Ogbuehi, whose brother, Solomon Ogbuehi, allegedly absconded during Pilgrimage in July, 2022, through the Lagos State contingent to Israel.

NCPC spokesman, Celestine Toruka, in a statement, yesterday, said Chidi Ogbuehi, who claimed to be an official of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and a lecturer with Anchor University, Ipaja, Lagos, aided his brother to abscond in Israel during the pilgrimage exercise, having committed himself by attestation and by accepting full responsibility.

Toruka said: “Solomon Ogbuehi, who absconded, travelled to Israel as a self-sponsored pilgrim with the Lagos State contingent and claimed to be an evangelist with Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM).

“On the expiration of pilgrimage exercise, Solomon Ogbuehi, could not return to the country having absconded in Israel. His guarantor, Chidi Ogbuehi, failed to produce him based on the fact that he was the one that guaranteed him and promised to be held responsible for the pilgrim’s action.”

Toruka said NCPC will leave no stone unturned to make sure Chidi Ogbuehi pay for aiding his brother to abscond during the pilgrimage, as it would serve as a deterrent to other would-be guarantors and those planning to abscond.
