The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said that the raging scandal over Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) underscores the rot in the President Bola Tinubu administration.

The ADC, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the scandal points directly at the heart of national governance and raises fundamental questions about institutional integrity and as such must be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

Recently, the PFIPC Director General, Mathew Adeyemi, and Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, have been trading tackles over the legality of the existence of the agency.

Earlier in the week, the Presidency, in a statement by Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, carpeted Adeyemi and exonerated Gbajabiamila of any wrong doing in respect to agency, which the government has described as fake.

However, the ADC, said the Presidency through its statement on the scandal has raised more questions than answers, and exposed the depth of institutional decay under the All Progressive Congress (APC) controlled Federal Government.

Consequently, the opposition party stated that to get the root of the matter, at least 10 government agencies, as well as Gbajabiamila and Adeyemi must be investigated.

The party, while calling for an independent probe of the PFIPC scandal, listed government agencies that should be probed to include the SGF, Senator George Akume; the Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-JackWalson-Jack; Director General of the Budget Office, Tanimu YakubuYakubu;  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Office of the National Security Adviser ( ONSA), the Central Bank of Nigeria, Office of the Accountant General, Department of State Service (DSS), the Police and relevant committees of the National Assembly, so as to unravel the truth about the agency, its staffing, appropriation amongst others.

It stated that this matter must not be swept under the Presidential red carpet.
