Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and two senior officials will lead the country’s transitional process following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to state television.
The report said the judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and another official from the country’s legal council would join Pezeshkian in overseeing the transition.
State television, citing Khamenei’s adviser Mohammad Mokhber, disclosed the arrangement on Sunday as the country begins a new political phase.

Meanwhile, thousands of mourners gathered in central Tehran to pay their respects to the late supreme leader. AFP journalists reported that crowds converged on Enghelab (Revolution) Square in the capital.
The mourners, mostly dressed in black and some visibly emotional, chanted “death to America” and “death to Israel” while waving Iranian flags and holding portraits of Khamenei.
The development marks a significant moment in Iran’s political history, with authorities moving swiftly to ensure continuity in leadership following the long-serving leader’s death.
