Peter Orogwu: Beverage Merchant

Chief

His life journey from a humble beginning to one of the notable business moguls from Ebonyi State represents a determination to succeed in life.

In 1995, when he relocated to Lagos in search of better opportunities, it was not a bed of roses. The early years were marked by struggles, including petty trading and local transport business. These formative experiences built the foundation for his entrepreneurial spirit.

After those years of struggle and determination, he has become a notable businessman with interests in commodities within Nigeria and other African countries. With an initial savings of ₦19,000 and support from his brother, Peter Orogwu ventured into the production of alcoholic beverages. His company, Chuby-Zion Industries Limited, has grown progressively to become a major indigenous producer of alcoholic beverages and herbal liquor, serving millions of customers at home and abroad.

His products quickly gained popularity, expanding into markets across Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, South Africa, and beyond.

His quest for perfection has brought the company to its present height. Its product line has experienced a remarkable growth over the past years, and positive customer reviews abound. Among the notable brands by Chuby-Zion Industries are the popular Baby Oku Bitters, Dorobucci Bitters, Jo Gadaffi Bitters, Spena Whiskey, Fire Bitters, Long Jack Bitters, and Ghana Native Gin, among others. Through innovation and strategic investments, he has diversified his portfolio of investments into real estate, acquiring luxury property in exclusive locations such as Banana Island, Victoria Island, and Abule-Ado, all in Lagos.

It is for these reasons and several others that The Sun Board of Editors chose him as winner of The Sun Industrialist of the Year Award for 2025.
