Former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has announced a N10 million donation to support the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria in Anambra.

The donation was to support acquisition of new equipment and revitalisation of the Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area of the State.

Obi who disclosed this on his verified X handle yesterday, noted that healthcare remains one of the most meaningful investments any society could make.

He said, Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, Chairman of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, conducted him round the facility and explained the Diocese’s plan to transform the hospital into a comprehensive health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.

“Faith-based organisations have shown, time and again, that with the right support, they can deliver excellence. Together, we can build a healthier Nigeria,” Obi said.

The former governor explained that he made the donation shortly after addressing a tourism event in Enugu, before proceeding to Owerri for a dinner hosted by Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of his former boss, former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

He further revealed that he had been feeling unwell during his engagements in Enugu and was advised by a doctor to rest for a day or two.

As a result, he said he might suspend some of his scheduled engagements within and outside Nigeria within the week.

“I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this might cause and humbly plead for understanding,” Obi added.
