The Senior Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Political Affairs Jake Enyia says people asked him to reject the appointment.
Jake Enyia, an associate professor of law in the University of Calabar disclosed this while assuming office in Calabar.
The governor’s newly appointed Political Adviser stated that the same people said he has been given a political burial after he missed out on the list of nominees for commissioners.
He however disclosed that it’s the nature of man and he has accepted the governor’s appointment.
According to him, ” When the appointment was made, people called me to reject it because I am bigger than the appointment.
“Others called me to say if I accept the appointment, it means I am greedy, so many calls.
“But these are the same people that when they released the names of commissioners and my name was not mentioned the same people said I have been given a decent political burial and my own is finished.
‘These same people, after my appointment was announced instead of congratulating me said I should resign.
“That’s the nature of man but I want to say that I have accepted the governor’s appointment”, he said.
He disclosed that he will not be found wanting in his new role as political adviser and will not disappoint the governor as well as the good people of the state.
He also disclosed that he understands the intricacies of politics in the state and will see how he can practicalize it to ensure that the state finds itself in the right footing politically.
He added that what is important at all times is service and the person who gave him the job knows why, adding that he will bring his experience to bear in his responsibilities.
Associate Professor Jake Enyia has at various times been a local government chairman, two term member of the state House of Assembly, Director General of the State Electrification Agency, Aviation Commissioner, among other responsibilities.
